Municipal Boundary Adjustment Unit - Filing Fee Requirements

Filing fees must accompany all petitions and resolutions.  The schedule of filing fees can be found in Minn. Rule 6000.3400.

Minnesota Statutes 414.02 - Incorporation A filing fee of $600.
Minnesota Statutes 414.031 and 414.033 - Annexation A filing fee of $5 per acre with a minimum of $100 and a maximum of $600.
Minnesota Statutes 414.031, subd. 1(a)(4) - Annexation of an           entire town to a municipality A filing fee of $200.
Minnesota Statutes 414.0325 - Orderly Annexation A joint resolution for designation of an orderly annexation area must be accompanied by a filing fee of $2 per acre, with a minimum fee of $25 and a maximum fee of $200. The annexation of any part of a designated area requires an additional filing fee of $2 per acre, with a minimum fee of $25 and a maximum fee of $200.

If the original joint resolution is amended to include additional land to the designated area, a filing fee of $2 per acre with a minimum of $25 and a maximum of $200 must accompany the amendment. If any portion of the additional land is to be immediately annexed, an additional filing fee of $2 per acre with a minimum of $25 and a maximum of $200 is necessary.
Minnesota Statutes 414.041 - Consolidation A filing fee of $200.
Minnesota Statutes 414.06 - Detachment A filing fee of $5 per acre with a minimum of $100 and a maximum of $600.
Minnesota Statutes 414.061 - Concurrent Detachment/Annexation A filing fee of $5 per acre with a minimum of $100 and a maximum of $600.
 
Waiver of Fees: If the chief administrative law judge or the delegate of the chief administrative law judge finds that the strict application of the filing fee requirements would impose an unreasonable hardship on the petitioner, the judge shall waive the filing fee or a portion of the filing fee  (Minn. Rule 6000.3400, Subp. 9).
